AFRICAN SUMMER | HORNIMAN 2015

In the summer of 2015 The Horniman Museum and Gardens held an event called

'African Summer'

The event explored and celebrated arts from Africa and its diaspora through performance and workshops.

Each Wednesday focused on different art, dance, drumming, singing and music performances inspired by traditions from all around Africa.

Arts Network held a Textiles Workshop in the Pavilion, located in the Horniman Gardens.

Members of the public, of all ages, were invited to decorate a square of material using designs based on West African textiles.

We had so many amazing contributions.

These were pinned onto a dressmakers mannequin and will be used to create a garment, which will be displayed later in the year.
